Sizimisele Development Trust

by in Community, Tourism

Sizimisele means ‘we are prepared to serve the community’. The trust was founded by Maggie Dhadhla in the 1980s and expanded over the years. Today, it is a crèche, health care support facility and a place where people gather to produce crafts, such as Zulu baskets, beadwork, crocheting and items made from recycled plastic.

Maggie Dhladhla talks about the foundation and work of the Sizimisele Development Trust

It’s true that a journey starts with one step, then the next steps follow. This is a great achievement from my side of view. I know communities who have established projects like this but struggle to move forward because there is no unity, social solidarity and lack of knowledge or information about these things. This obviously contribute positively to the community and the community responce toward it sounds very positive. Big ups to eNanda community. You can still achieve more, there is still great success ahead as long as you stay united and cement social relationships as a community.

Indeed the Sizimisele development trust fund seems like a very interesting organisation which works very hard to get where they are. Can’t wait to meet this organisation I’m a student at UKZN Howard College doing Social science and next week we about to start our field work and I’m glad I was located here at Sizimisele development trust fund
